Hello CIFC Supporters!

September 27, 2018

As summer comes to an end and we look forward to cooler weather, it is time to begin our plans for the 2018 season of Christmas is for Children, NJ. We are reaching out to all past or future supporters to secure your support for the upcoming season. We are pleased to report that in 2017 we were able to provide holiday gifts for over 800 children, 829 to be exact. In working with 19 social agencies throughout NJ, including Children on the Green, Impact, Family Promise of Morris County, Family Health, Eric Johnson House, etc., children all over New Jersey received wonderful surprises because of our sponsors. What makes Christmas is for Children unique is our approach to bestowing charity so that our beneficiaries retain their dignity, witnessing the true spirit of the holiday and the very best of humanity…and this cannot be achieved without all of you as supporters and sponsors.

This spring and summer the CIFC leadership, under the guidance of New Jersey Director Ellen Bond, has reviewed requests for additional support for 2018 from existing agencies and new agencies who have reached out to CIFC. We are expanding our support and adding an additional 200+ children for the coming We will then need to recruit new volunteers to sponsor these additional children. Some of you who are receiving this expressed interest this past year after all children had been sponsored. We expect to be able to provide you with children to sponsor for 2018 due to this new demand for help. If any of you know of family, friends or co-workers who may like to sponsor a child this upcoming holiday season we would greatly appreciate you passing along this email or have them be in touch with us. We will be sure to add anyone interested to our list. We expect to be back in touch in late October with specific details of sponsorship. At this time we just ask for your confirmation of willingness to serve and the number of children. As a reminder, each child receives three gifts (a need, a want and an educational item.) Suggested spending is $75-80 per child.

We are also pleased to announce three events being held at area restaurants this fall – proceeds from meals purchased will support CIFC.
October 25 – Stage House in Mountainside
November 5 – Stirling Tavern in Morristown
November 12 – Stirling Hotel in Stirling

Besides individual sponsors, CIFC is happy to work with businesses and organizations who wish to set up a giving tree to sponsor multiple children. We also accept monetary donations and will again coordinate our annual food basket drive in December. More information is available here on our website, njchristmasisforchildren.org

“I have been involved with this organization for 18 years, and always marvel at the amount of work a committed group of volunteers can pull together in just a few months. We are proud of the impact we make, and are ready to expand that impact in support of children in need in New Jersey. Our agency partners thank each of you for your support and dedication,” says Ellen Bond, CIFC NJ Director.

We wish everyone all the best for 2018 – and look forward to working with you again in the fall.

Welcome!

October 2, 2013

Welcome to our website!  We are hoping that you will help support us during this holiday season.  We understand that there are many excellent charities asking for your assistance.  Here are a few reasons why we are hoping you will contribute to ours.

  1. We are local.  We help needy families in New Jersey and New York.  We deliver gifts and food baskets to hospitals, schools and social agencies who in turn distribute them directly to children and their families.
  2. We are a grass-roots organization.  Our overhead is extremely low, which means that virtually everything we receive is passed on to those in need.  Our organizational expenses include mainly our mailing and post office box rental costs.
  3. We are a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization that assists people of all denominations during the holiday season.  We do not exclude anyone based on religious affiliation.
  4. We need your help.  We rely on sponsors to buy gifts for children.  We also solicit food baskets for delivery near Christmas.  If you would like to help us, but lack the time or transportation to shop, we also welcome monetary donations.

Thank you for taking the time to visit our site.  If you have any questions, just ask!

One person can make a difference!

October 8, 2011

We are looking for volunteers to make the holidays happier for children and families in need.  Please visit the pages on our site to find out how you can help.  A few dollars or a few hours of your time could make all the difference to an underprivileged child this holiday season.

We bring joy to children over the holidays.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas

In 1991, two social workers answered letters to Santa Claus (found in the New York City post office) from the children of four needy families, making their Christmas wishes come true.  Since then, Christmas is for Children has supported nearly tens of thousands of underprivileged children dealing with poverty, AIDS, domestic violence and substance-abusing parents.  What makes Christmas is for Children unique is our approach to bestowing charity so that our beneficiaries retain their dignity, witnessing the true spirit of Christmas and the very best of humanity.
